I watched Kolberg out of curiosity, "the most expensive propaganda movie ever made". I enjoyed the rapid pace of the plot. I found the colours very life like, also the many disasters that levelled the besieged town. Battle scenes were very impressive - those thousands of troops diverted from defence of the Fatherland!
During Napoleon's victorious campaign in Germany, the city of Kolberg gets isolated from the retreating Prussian forces. The population of Kolberg refuses to capitulate and organizes the resistance against the French army, which immediately submits the city to massive bombardments.
